Maria Hendricks
Board Member, Audio Describer, Artist, Actress, Activist
Maria is a multilingual, Afroindigenous actress, singer & activist. She is a member of the Assonet & Mashpee Wampanoag tribes, and speaks Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, and Cape Verdean Creole. Maria has performed on many professional stages in States from New York to South Dakota, and served as Resident Artist/Co-Artistic Director at New Repertory Theatre for two seasons. She was nominated for 7 Boston Theater Critics Association-Elliot Norton Awards in 2024. Her work at New Rep focused on the celebration of and creating platforms for historically marginalized voices and groups in the Greater Boston area. Maria Hendricks also works as an audio-describer and cultural/linguistics consultant for numerous Boston theaters and arts organizations, and, employing her language skills, as a freelance Court Interpreter in RI & MA.
